We are seeking a technical, detail-oriented Payroll Professional with deep experience in interpretation of Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs), legislative and statutory obligations, payroll on costs and employment taxes to join our dynamic Payroll team. You will form an integral part of the payroll team tasked with ensuring high quality payroll analysis and processing information to the business and external stakeholders. 

As a Payroll Analyst in our Compliance function, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring payroll operations comply with industrial instruments, tax obligations, and legislative requirements. You'll work closely with the broader payroll, HR and industrial relations teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support and guidance on employment tax treatment (PAYG, superannuation, FBT etc).
  • Drive payroll reconciliations, including leave entitlement reconciliations with a focus on Long Service Leave.
  • Review and validate leave entitlement dates, rates and balances.
  • Handle administrative and reporting areas such as child support, novated leasing and reportable fringe benefits.
  • Create and provide analytical reports to commercial, tax and finance, management and other stakeholders relating to payroll and payroll costing.
  • Complete transactions to regulatory parties as required including, ATO, ABS, redundancy funds, and LSL Boards.
  • Support internal and external audits, including preparing and reconciling documentation.
  • Provide recommendations and streamlining processes, including identification and implementation of reporting enhancements.
  • Support transition to Payday Super, or other legislative changes as required.
  • Assist in updating or preparing payroll documentation and potentially support training on new processes.
  • Liaise or escalate query management with various stakeholders across the business in relation to payroll costing matters.
What you’ll bring:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Business or a related discipline such as Accounting is desirable.
  • Proactive, precise and strong analytical mindset, with a problem-solving approach.
  • Proven industry experience in payroll with a strong focus on compliance.
  • Knowledge of payroll-related legislation and standards (Fair Work Act, NES, ATO, LSL Board rules).
  • Hands-on experience interpreting and applying EBAs, awards, and portable long service leave returns.
  • Understanding of employment tax obligations, including PAYG, superannuation, and FBT.
  • Experience analysing rosters and day rules, including shift entitlements and penalties.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong excel skills; experience with large ERP payroll systems (Ascender; part of Dayforce) highly desirable.
  • PowerBi highly desirable.
