The role of QA/QC Inspector will see you reporting to the Quality Lead and responsible for the preparation and implementation of the construction project’s quality management policy, system and strategies within the project; providing technical advice and assistance to the project team as well as liaising with clients in relation to quality requirements.
This role will be offered on a 2:1 FIFO roster to Karratha for our major Oil & Gas construction project. Coating inspection qualification such as NACE Level 2, ICorr Level 2 or equivalent is required. Experience with insulation and passive fire protection (PFP) systems within the Oil & Gas or heavy industrial sector is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and quality control activities for coatings, insulation and passive fire protection (PFP) systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, ITPs, applicable standards and client requirements.
- Perform surface preparation inspections including cleanliness, profile, environmental monitoring and coating application inspections.
- Inspect insulation installation and cladding systems to ensure compliance with project specifications and workmanship standards.
- Perform inspections of passive fire protection systems including material verification, application, thickness testing and final acceptance inspections.
- Monitor and verify coating application processes including DFT measurements, adhesion testing, holiday testing and curing requirements.
- Review and verify QA/QC documentation including coating reports, batch certificates, inspection test records and manufacturer data sheets.
- Issue, follow up and close out Non-Conformance Reports and Field Discrepancies.
- Document inspection findings, generate comprehensive reports, and maintain accurate records of inspections, tests and associated documentation.
- Collaborate with the QA/QC team to promote continuous improvement initiatives and share best practices related to coatings, insulation and PFP quality.
What You’ll Bring
- Previous experience in a similar Coating / Insulation / PFP Inspector position.
- Coating inspection qualification (NACE Level 2, ICorr Level 2 or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of industrial coating systems, insulation installation and passive fire protection applications.
- Sound working knowledge of Australian standards, project specifications and industry codes relevant to coatings, insulation and PFP.
- Strong knowledge of the AS/NZS ISO 9001 quality systems and processes.
- Well-developed written communication skills, with the ability to prepare management reports and work instructions.
- Demonstrated computer skills including MS Word and MS Excel.
- Trade background or relevant industry experience within painting, blasting, insulation, fireproofing or construction disciplines.
- Valid Australian Driver’s Licence.
- Proof of right to work in Australia.
