Description & Requirements

Zenviron are seeking a Civil Designer to join our Engineering team in Newcastle, contributing directly to the design and delivery of renewable energy infrastructure projects.

As a Civil Designer, you will be responsible for developing and delivering civil designs and models that support project planning, construction, and as‑built documentation. Working closely with Civil Engineers and project teams, you will take ownership of defined design elements and contribute to high‑quality, constructible outcomes.

This role suits someone with strong technical drafting and design capability who is comfortable working in a delivery focused, in house engineering environment.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Prepare designs for project infrastructure including:
  • Earthworks, benches, hardstands, and laydown areas
  • Internal access tracks, public road upgrades, and pavements
  • Drainage and erosion & sediment control layouts
  • Develop models and drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Interpret engineering inputs, specifications, and survey data to produce design ready outputs
  • Incorporate engineering mark ups, design changes, and redlines
  • Ensure drawings comply with Australian Standards, client and project requirements
  • Coordinate with engineers, consultants, and project teams as required
  • Follow Zenviron drafting standards, procedures, and WHS requirements
What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or a diploma / advanced diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Design, or Engineering Technology
  • Proven experience in civil design and drafting within infrastructure or heavy civil projects
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, with Civil 3D experience highly regarded
  • Good understanding of earthworks, road design, and drainage principles
  • Good attention to detail, organised, and able to meet project deadlines
  • Ability to work independently on assigned design elements while collaborating effectively with engineers
  • Proof of right to work in Australia
To be successful in this role we are seeking someone who is comfortable operating in a structured, delivery focused engineering environment—taking ownership of their work, working to established standards, and reliably meeting safety, quality, and documentation requirements. We are seeking someone who contributes constructively within an in house engineering team and maintains a consistently professional approach to project delivery.

We are committed to our philosophy of Empowering People and encourage innovation and creative thinking. We embrace the benefits of employing hardworking people from rich and varied backgrounds, so we encourage applications that contribute to our diverse workplace.

We understand the importance of recognising each and every member of staff, that’s why at Zenviron your talents will be encouraged to make a valued contribution to the project and the organisation.
