Description & Requirements

We’re seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Shutdown Superintendents to support upcoming major excavator shutdown projects across NSW mining operations.

This EOI is aimed at highly capable leaders with strong technical backgrounds in large-scale mining equipment maintenance, particularly Liebherr and Hitachi excavators.

As a Shutdown Superintendent, you will oversee planning and execution of large mining excavator shutdowns, ensuring safe, efficient and high quality delivery.
Working closely with project teams, supervisors and trades, you will lead shutdown performance across multiple regional locations – Hunter Valley • Narrabri • Gunnedah • Orange • Mudgee

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Lead safe and efficient shutdown execution across allocated sites.
  • Drive excellence in HSSE, productivity and shutdown performance.
  • Provide leadership to onsite supervisors and trades teams.
  • Assist with shutdown planning, scheduling and scope development.
  • Manage risk, scope changes and project variations.
  • Act as the primary contact for technical queries and progress updates.
  • Promote and champion strong safety culture and behaviours.

What you will bring
  • Extensive supervisory or management experience in mining excavator shutdowns.
  • Mandatory technical knowledge of Liebherr and Hitachi excavators.
  • Strong leadership capability with experience guiding multi disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage schedules, budgets, resources and project risks.
  • High attention to safety, quality and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
