Description & Requirements

This Contracts Lead role will see you working on a major alliance-based contract model for a power generation construction project in Queensland, taking on a key leadership position within the commercial team and reporting to the Commercial Manager / Project Manager. As the Contracts Lead, you will be responsible for managing upstream and downstream contracts, supporting commercial governance, and ensuring effective contract administration and delivery across the project lifecycle.

You will play a critical role in contract execution, claims management, and stakeholder engagement, working closely with project controls, procurement, and delivery teams to drive strong commercial outcomes. This role will suit someone who is detail-oriented, commercially astute, and confident in managing complex contractual environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage upstream and downstream contracts across the full project lifecycle
  • Lead contract administration, including variations, claims, and change management
  • Support commercial strategy and governance across the project
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams on contractual matters
  • Assist in risk and opportunity identification and mitigation
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, clients, and subcontractors to ensure contractual compliance
  • Support cost control, forecasting, and reporting activities in collaboration with project controls
  • Prepare and manage contract documentation, registers, and correspondence
  • Work closely with legal and commercial teams on contract reviews and execution
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of contract management processes and systems

What you’ll bring:
  • Tertiary qualification in Commercial, Quantity Surveying, Finance, Engineering or related field
  • Strong experience in contract management and administration on large-scale construction projects
  • Proven experience across variations, claims, and contract execution
  • EPC and/or Design & Construct project experience
  • Strong understanding of commercial principles and contract risk
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Experience within energy, infrastructure, or resources sectors
  • Exposure to alliance-based or open-book contract models (desirable)
